"Restoring hope through technology" is their motto. They note: "Each day, 40,000 children under age 5 die in underserved countries." Many of those lives could be saved if the level of medical care in the U.S. could be made available in less fortunate places. Through the MMC telemedicine system, major American and European facilities can be linked with hospitals in the developing world. Using a special satellite network, American health professionals can assist overseas colleagues without leaving their U.S. offices. This help includes medical education, offering second opinions, mentoring operations, obtaining medical supplies, use and care of medical equipment, and other areas. This program now serves 36 countries and hopes to expand.
