Nearly all the organizations listing in Helping Overseas Directory depend on financial support, and those based on evangelical Christian values usually need it as well. Prospective donors want to be as certain as possible that the money they give will be used appropriately and efficiently. ECFA helps meet this need in the evangelical Christian community by establishing and maintaining high standards for their over 1,200 member organizations (but they do not rate ministries). Although there are many excellent Christian organizations that do not belong to ECFA, membership in it is a strong indication of integrity. Many faith-based organizations in this directory are ECFA members, and you can find them and others described (and their financial reports given) on the ECFA website.
