Project HOPE E-mail

Founded in 1958, Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) "is dedicated to providing lasting solutions to health problems, with the mission of helping people help themselves" . First known for its SS HOPE hospital ship (now decomissioned), they now have land-based programs in over 40 countries and have trained over two million health care workers.  Special emphasis is on helping mothers and children.  Project HOPE responds to major disasters.  Their website has more information and shows how medical professionals and students and non-medical folks can volunteer their services on land or on the special hospital ship they operate in cooperation with the U.S. Navy.
