Since 1991, they have been a leader in the field of international health educaton. Their members represent over 65 medical schools in the U.S. and Canada, and their mailing list includes over 1,000 physicians and medical school educators. GHEC encourages greater awareness of international medical needs, information sharing, and hands-on experiences in the develooping world (with helpful contact information for medical students, residents, and educators).
The "resources" section of their website is especially useful. It includes the "Annotated List of International Health Related Websites." by Thomas Hall, M.D. and Dr.P.H. in San Francisco. This condenses thousands of pages of data into 180 useful links. These links include educational programs, governmental and non-governmental organizations, job and placement opportunities, and miscellaneous other information resources. |
