Since 1992, CFHI has enabled students in preparation for several fields of medical professions to go abroad.  This includes undergraduates, graduate students, and residents.  It is one of the largest programs of its kind anywhere.  Currently over 500 participants annually share their skills and have unique short-term opportunities in developing countries.  There are over 5,000 CFHI alumni. Working with 250 partner organizations in five countries, participants get hands-on experiences as part of their medical education.  Small grants are possible, and arrangements are made to obtain and deliver medical supplies.  Applications are primarily from developed countries, but anyone worldwide may apply. Their website also tells about efforts in various universities to collect medical supplies and has a "wish board" requesting many kinds of them for going abroad.
